This service learning opportunity was centered around getting local low-income children under 12 years old ready for back-to-school. We provided free exams, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and oral hygiene education.

We went to Annapolis, MD to the senate office complex. We went to advocate for change (mid-level providers, access to care) in the state of Maryland. We just want to bridge the gap & reach everyone.

Community presentation to soon-to-be moms on the importance of preventive oral care prior and during pregnancy. Gave tips on how to brush and floss and the nearest dental clinic location

This event was held at Langston Terrace dwellings community in Northeast D.C. This community day was initiated under the guidance of Dr. Takeisha Presson, who was born and raised in this community. Dr. Presson’s started Langston Terrace Day in hopes to give back to the residents where she was raised. We provided oral hygiene education and dental products to the community.

Mt. Sinai hosts an annual health fair that contributes to getting members of the community active in maintaining their health.Oral cancer screenings and fluoride treatments were the services we provided at the health fair. Patients were also able to indicate oral care concerns and receive feedback. This service learning allowed us to be hands on with the guests and perfect our technique outside of the clinic.
